2014 - The Busiest Year Yet

School has closed and we are now all on our summer holidays. It has been such a busy and wonderful year with Class 13. We have all learnt a great deal together, and had so much fun along the way.

It was very sad to say goodbye on Wednesday, our last day of school. We said goodbye not only to each other, but to the lovely Mrs O'Neill who has spent time in our classroom this year. We hope you come back and see us next year.

Congratulations to all the students of Class 13 for an incredible year. You all made fantastic progress in your learning, and you also grew up a lot too. A special congratulations must go to our prizewinners:

  • Atareita, Paige and Mitchell for their academic awards
  • Samoa for citizenship
  • John for effort
  • Noah and Simon for performing arts

Also, well done to Ajani, Noah and Mitchell for being selected by Mr Burt to be school photographers for 2014.

Have a safe and happy holiday, and I'll see you all next year!

Manaiakalani Film - Friendship

In 2012, a group of NZ singers wrote and performed a song called “Feel Inside” to raise money to help kids who were really sick. Class 13 at Pt England have written and performed our own song to spread the message about being a good friend.

We would like to thank the cool kids in Years 2 and 3 that helped us with the song lyrics, and also Stan Walker and Jessica Mauboy for the music.

Ryan Old Woman Description

As I watched the woman crouch down, I could see she was as ancient as the universe deep channels of time etched into her wizened surface. With keen eyes alight with mischievous youth and cracked lips furling around gums where teeth once stood. Rich indigo velvet, was folded carefully to frame the face.

As I watched the woman crouch down, I could see she was as ancient as the universe. As I caught the eye of the crumpled old lady, I saw deep channels of time, etched into her wizened surface. She had keen eyes, alight with mischievous youth. While she ate, her cracked lips furled around her gums, where her teeth once stood. Her rich indigo velvet, was flowing carefully around the frame of her face. It was clear from her stare that she knew exactly what I had done.

What are the Commonwealth Games? by Noah

Sheales Explains what the Commonwealth Games are.

Did you know that sport is a good way to show friendship and togetherness which is important to the Commonwealth? I reckon that sport is a good way to show friendship because you could have fun with your friends while you are playing sports and you could also play against your friends. These sentences were about how sport is a good way to show friendship.

Guess what? Well the first Commonwealth Games were held in 1930 in Hamilton, Canada. The Commonwealth games that are on now is being held in Scotland and the next Commonwealth games will be held in Samoa. The Commonwealth Games are a sporting event between 71 countries around the world. It is kind of similar to the Olympics because some of the sports are the same as the Commonwealth Games. They have a Opening Ceremoney and a Closing Ceremoney. They also light torches.

Valerie Adams has the world record of shot put she beats the rest in every game.

The Commonwealth Games is a sporting event. It is played by different athletes and I think you know that it is also played by 71 countries from around the whole wide world. Do you know why the teams have to stay together? Its because they have to encourage their  teams. They also have to encourage their teammates when they compete in different events. When people go play different events they strive to succeed and choose to believe in themselves. If you watched the opening of the Commonwealth you might have seen Queen Elizabeth 2. She is the head of commonwealth.
